The Green Tara is among the Tibetans one of the most popular female Boddhisattva guardian deities and is not missing in any house altar, she is the great liberator from the 8 types of fears and helps to overcome them. It is presented with benevolent Mudras (hand gesture). Legend has it that the Green Tara reincarnated into the Nepalese princess Bhrikuti (Trisun), who along with the White Tara reincarnation in the form of the Chinese princess Wencheng led the Tibetan king Songsten Gampo to teach Buddhism in Tibet. This led to the opening of Tibet for Buddhism, which over time pushed the shamanic Bön religion more and more into the background.
