Replica of a tibetan Buddha Statue - White Jambhala / Kubera / Vaisravana - 26 cm fully antique gold plated

The white form of Jambhala which is seen in this statue is seated sideways on a dragon. White Jambhala - Kubera is the Buddhist Kubera i.e.God of Wealth. In Buddhism he became a lokal guardian of the quarter. He is shown as pot-bellied and wears rich ornaments. Jambhala holds a mongoose (nakula) in his left hand which is vomitting wish fulfilling gems.

The White Kubera or Jambhala is one of the Dharmapala or Digpalas. The White Jambhala is protecor of wealth an of the North. Jambhalas´s abode is said to be Alaka in the Himalayas, enriched with wealth and abundance. In Durgatiparisodhana Tantra, it is stated, Kubera the great king of Yakshas, bowed before the Lord Shakyamuni Buddha and said:
O Lord, I together with eighty eight great war generals of Yakshas, will persevere in removing every fear of that great being who holds this tantra. I will give wealth and grain in abundance. I will protect his country and provinces, his people, servants, relatives, friend, sons, daughters,wive and the rest. I will take care of his oxen, cows, asses, camels, sheep,elephants, goats and the rest.

He is thus especially invoked for generating wealth and prosperity. There are many legends relating to his role as guardian of all the treasures of earth and the treassures belonging to the people. Jambhala is worshipped both by the Hindus and Buddhist alike.
